'Wine uplifts the soul and thoughts, and anxieties depart from the heart of man' - Pindar, Greek poet
It is called 'the Valcalepio Wine and Food Trail'. and is a project that aims to reconcile the beauty of the Bergamo landscapes with the goodness of its products. Freshness, quality and tradition: these are the key words that have always accompanied the area's winegrowing activities and are now recognised as a invaluable heritage in terms of food and wine and culture. Here then are recommended itineraries to enjoy Bergamo delicacies and appreciate the local cuisine. You can't say you've really visited a place if you don't try, at least once, its most typical dishes!
Tasting Valcalepio wine
DOC wine since 1976, the Valcalepio is a flagship product for Bergamo's wine and food industry and for the Italian peninsula. Appreciated by locals and tourists alike, this tasty drink is the result of the marriage of two important grape varieties: the Merlot (40% to 75%) and the Cabernet Sauvignon (25% to 60%). These vines are cultivated with passion in the most favourable areas of the bergamasque hills. The ruby red wine with its dry flavour is the ideal accompaniment for 'strong' dishes such as polenta, roasts, game and red meat.
The Road of Wine and Flavours - Itineraries
