"Art teaches nothing except the meaning of life" - Henry Miller, American writer and painter
There is a museum in Bergamo where you can experience different visual languages and discovering the wonders of modern art. We are talking about the GAMeC - the Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art opened in 1991 at the behest of the City of Bergamo. Situated in the famous Piazza Carrara, home of the Academy of the same name, the GAMec is a modern structure that hosts exhibitions, cultural initiatives and evocative events throughout the year.
The museum is located in the spaces of theFormer Monastery of the Dimesse and Servite Sistersa 15th-century architectural complex that was restored in the 1990s by the famous collector Vittorio Gregotti. Recall that among the founding members of the art gallery we also find the group Tenaris of Dalmine, an important industrial reality in Bergamo.
The philosophy of GAMeC is to engage visitors of all ages in educational paths that leave their mark. International exhibitions, educational workshops and guided tours are some of the activities organised by the museum. The aim is to convey the value of art and the importance of the artistwhose works are able to transcend time and unite different eras.
If you are in Bergamo and would like to visit the city's main museums, we suggest you start right here!
Here are all the exhibitions coming up this autumn:
24 November to 15 December the GAMec space will host various workshops dedicated to families. On the occasion of the exhibition "Black Hole. Art and Materiality between Informe and Invisibile', the museum offers a series of activities designed to share a passion for art with children.
An interesting initiative is also "2018 - An art odyssey".an educational journey through 12,000 years of history, art and culture. The route, which will end on 6 December, was designed for students, art enthusiasts and teachers looking for creative inspiration for their work.

Last but not least is the free workshop for children which will take place on 9 December 2018. To celebrate the arrival of Santa Lucia, GAMeC educator Clara Luiselli will involve the public in an exciting journey of art and fantasy.
