Did you know that part of the series was filmed in Bergamo's historic villas?
February, a month full of appointments from a TV point of view: after the Sanremo Festival 2025, a new drama entitled Belcanto made its debut on the RAI channels. The series (set between 1700 and 1800) tells the story of Maria and her daughters Antonia and Carolina. Graceful and gifted with an extraordinary voice the former, wild and rebellious the latter, the sisters are in the dark about a big secret of their mother. They flee Naples to free themselves from the oppression of Iginio, Maria's violent husband, pursuing their dream of performing at La Scala in Milan.
Where did the filming take place?
The filming of the series (which will be divided into eight 50-minute episodes, directed by Mare Fuori's director, Carmine Elia) involved locations such as Pavia and Brescia, but also the province of Bergamo. In May 2024, in fact, a troupe of around sixty people (including technicians, set designers, costume designers and actors) made a stop at the prestigious Villa Zanchi in Stezzano.
During the reshoots, we had the pleasure of hosting part of the TV crew who stayed at our facility for a few days: a very dynamic set. Evening, morning and afternoon shoots. It was exciting to see the satisfaction in our guests' eyes when they returned from the shoot. Villa Zanchi was defined by them as one of the most beautiful villas where they filmed the series... and they filmed a lot of them.
A stellar cast!
The cast includes many famous actors such as Vittoria Puccini, Carmine Recano, Giacomo Giorgio, Adriana Savarese and many others. This production continues a long tradition for the prestigious Villa, which in the past has also been chosen by singers (such as Il Volo, Shade and Federica Carta) for music video shoots and performances.
Stezzano lends itself perfectly as a 'location' for the occasion. In fact, the historic centre of the town retains its 19th century urban and building structure, which, in addition to the agricultural courtyards, also includes four historic residences, built between the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century: Villa Morlani (located in a secluded area, on the eastern outskirts of Stezzano's historical centre); Villa Moroni (of whose original nucleus little remains today following modifications made during the 19th century) and Villa Maffeis, located in Piazza Libertà (of the three, the most frequented by the public as it houses the Town Hall and municipal offices including the Library).
We are located 2 km from the prestigious Villa Zanchi, an iconic venue in the province for weddings and important events.
